President of INTERKULTUR

Where people sing…

A simple vision and yet a powerful idea: What Günter Titsch plans is no less than a worldwide connection of people from all cultures on the wings of music – bringing together choirs and singers of all ages, color or ideology in peaceful competition.

Günter Titsch and his internationally experienced team developed the INTERKULTUR choir events into the largest and most successful cultural event series worldwide. The most ground-breaking success however was the idea to create major events following the ancient archetype of the Olympic Games in a new way. These “Choir Olympics”, which became further on well-known as the „World Choir Games“, have become the world’s largest choir competition.

With his passion for music and his unfailing commitment Günter Titsch developed INTERKULTUR within more than 30 years into the world’s leading organization regarding international choral events. Its competitions and festivals nowadays set standards worldwide concerning the artistic level and professional organization of such events.

Singing makes happy

From „Street Choir“ to the „Choir of Grumpy Persons“

Everyone who sings knows that singing creates a positive and comfortable feeling. Singing in a community is like a warm shower after a stressful working day. For many years I also sang in a choir and finally made my hobby my job. Even if I am not singing in a choir any longer I am still fascinated by the phenomenon that singing is not only fun but also keeps fit and stabilises one’s health if practised regularly.

Currently science is interested more than ever in the impact of singing on people’s body and mind. But even without scientific analysis and research we realize that we feel exhilarated when singing. Singing makes vocal chords vibrate. This vibration confers to the bones and fills the resonating cavities of our bodies with sounds. Our whole system literally starts vibrating. Active choral members often told me that they return home after a rehearsal in a „completely elated“ mood.

The INTERKULTUR World Rankings

For over 25 years the INTERKULTUR competitions belong to the most innovative events of the international choral scene. They represent the core of our numerous activities and have strongly influenced choirs and their improvement in performance worldwide.

All competitions are carried out according to the MUSICA MUNDI quality seal. This implies that for all events the same measurable parameters of quality can be applied from the announcement up to execution of the event. This makes all events worldwide comparable regardless in which country they are taking place.

Pedagogical concepts at our INTERKULTUR festivals

Since the beginning of our activities INTERKULTUR events represent not only choral competitions and festivals, although of course one focus is on the peaceful competition and the mutual encounters of singers from all over the world.

Beyond that each of our events is based upon a comprehensive and elaborate pedagogical concept. All participants are being invited to make use of these top-class offers in order to gather theoretical and practical experience, to get new artistic input and to gain further qualifications in different ways. The meeting between international jurors and experts and our conductors and their singers at all our events has first priority.
