The New Year 2020 is only a few days old and the first INTERKULTUR event is already approaching: Sing’n’Pray Kobe in Japan. But this is only the first of 23 events that singers from all over the world can look forward to.

I am especially excited that we will be able to present numerous premieres to the choirs this year. We are constantly working on developing new event formats in order to be able to offer something for all choir music enthusiasts.

From sing-along concerts for individual singers to events for choirs that do not necessarily take part in competitions, but rather seek exchange with like-minded people and share their love of music. And this preferably in combination with fantastic locations and attractive travel destinations around the world, such as Voices & Wine in Alba, Italy in April or the anniversary edition of ON STAGE in Albania in June.

We try to include as many corners of the world as possible in our events, to make sure that choirs can participate in competitions and events without having to travel too far. So, this year there will be another premiere in Southeast Asia with Sing’n’Joy Bohol in the Philippines in October. The Ukrainian capital Kyiv will also welcome singers from all over the world for the first time in 2020 at the first Kyiv International Choir Competition in August.

Especially in the difficult times we are currently living in, it is all the more important to bring together people and nations in the spirit of peace and to unite them in a common passion. The personal meeting and the mutual exchange are important factors that can contribute to international understanding and peace in the world. We would like to give this opportunity and invite people from all over the world to make music and sing together.  These intercultural encounters are of great importance to INTERKULTUR and are also becoming more and more important for the choir singers.

In this sense I am also looking forward to the 11th World Choir Games in Flanders, Belgium in July. The 20th anniversary of the Olympic Games of Choral Music will bring together more than 540 choirs and many thousands of singers from almost 70 nations. A unique musical and cultural festival of choral music awaits us!

23 choir competitions and festivals in 13 countries and six premieres are ahead of us and the whole INTERKULTUR team is looking forward to an exciting, musical and colorful year 2020!
