Dear colleagues,
Dear friends,

In deep mourning and on behalf of Wang Qin, the Presidency and the Artistic Directors I have to inform you today that our good friend, appreciated colleague and recently appointed INTERKULTUR Honorary President, Christian Ljunggren has passed away on Saturday evening (February 4) at 17.55 h, just a few days after his 75th birthday.

His family was with him in the last hour and he was freed from God after a long journey of despair accompanied by pain and uncertainty. We lose not only a good colleague and advisor, but also a close friend, together with whom we could master many ups and downs!
Christian was not only always there for us when we called him, but he had always developed his plans for the good of our organization with calmness and prudence, and with great commitment and tenacity. We owe him a lot!

His passing leaves a big gap – whether as Vice President of the World Choir Council or as the moving force behind our important pedagogical activities in China. Christian not only was a simple member of the INTERKULTUR family, but he was one of its mainstays for many years. He was a close friend, characterized by good mood at all times and many ideas to push us forward.

The fact that it is possible today for INTERKULTUR to unite the choral world again and again and to be able to go back on a network of the earth’s most important representatives is the decisive merit of Christian. Building this network and supporting the international exchange about the specific choral scenes in different countries was one of Christian’s most important ambitions that he tried to aim by his outstanding commitment for INTERKULTUR and the World Choir Council.

His important consulting will be missed forever. We all mourn for a good friend and great personality.
We will always perpetuate his memory.

Sincerely,
Günter Titsch
